Bakalars Sausage Company & Schweigert Meats
Bakalars Sausage Company was founded in 1935 by Ray, Frank, and Ted Bakalars. The three brothers had one simple goal: to produce the finest quality meat products at the best possible price.
Today Bakalars is owned and operated by Michael and Bethany Bakalars. We have grown into a federally inspected wholesale meat company offering a wide variety of beef, pork, poultry, seafood, and cheese products. We manufacture a complete line of natural casing and skinless sausage products for both the wholesale food service and retail grocery industries. Our foodservice distribution covers an area of around 120 miles any direction from La Crosse, WI.
Our products are made from the finest ingredients, and they are still hardwood smoked for that old-fashioned flavor. Our portion-controlled steaks and chops are hand cut and individually packaged using the latest technology.
As of 2015 Bakalars acquired the Schweigert brand. We still hold true to the motto “Schweigert Makes It Better” guaranteeing quality and tradition in every Schweigert product.
